Not Yet M.D.
Well last night I was expecting a call to tell me where I was suppose to be going this morning, didn’t happen. So this morning had no idea where I was meant to be, I rang the office who told me to ring Andy and pair up with him as he was reasonably local in East Grinstead. He wasn’t, he was in Sutton, so after bodging a portable stereo to the ciggy lighter in the van so at least I had some noise to listen to, I jollied up the M23 to Sutton. It was at about Polegate I started to think, ‘How will I be able to ring Andy once I get there with no credit on my mobile phone and no cash for a phonebox?’ At that point I slung the van into a Uturn and floored it back to Eastbourne to borrow my Dad’s phone. Eventually got to Sutton 10.40 (ish) am. Met Andy who said most of todays work had been cancelled and we had two small calls to do, so by 1.30pm I was back trundling along the M23 towards home, lovely sunny day, music playing thinking this job isn’t all that bad really. When really I should’ve been thinking, I haven’t had a really bad day…Yet!
Evening picked my Daughter Jade up and she had a natter with Chain on the radio, which may’ve been kinda illegal but I was thinking woteva, there are so many abusers of that particular band now no-one would take the blindest bit of notice. Then it was onto Chain’s for tea, soldering and some VSWR madness. We experimented on a particular antenna design we’ve been looking at for ages, I actually use this design as my base station antenna at home and it works very very well. The strange thing is we cannot seem to make another that keeps its high spec once put inside plastic tube? (my one is in tube btw and is ‘almost’ spot on). So we need to think deeper…
