Hello….It’s me. Dunno what to write just bored so filling some time. Dum dee dum… Work was manic today, had to ship first test samples of my project to Hong Kong by this afternoon and one failed, so had to use a bit of initiative and extract one from thin air, I then realised how much of a typical company it is when I tried to find out how to get an order raised and the items packed and dispatched, everyone had a different opinion here, so I threw it all up in the air complaining of too many variables (not my job anyway).

On my way home I noticed my rev counter going up even though I wasn’t accelerating, so I need a new clutch. Great! I need to drive to Wales in a couple of weeks too…

Another ESP Episode.

Had an early awakening this morning, firstly by a dream where my daughter had rung at 3.05 AM and was alone in town saying she was going to walk home along the beach. I felt her to be in an extremely vulnerable position so insisted I would pick her up and got out of bed and stumbled around trying to dress, then I felt a wash of turmoil as I perceived the room mutating into chaos, quite a strange experience, the second time I awoke was when the phone rang half hour or so later!

I tend to think I may have the ability to occasionally pick up on the anguish of close family members, and although slightly cryptic, the perceptions are in real-time and occur as a dream. I know there are a lot of skeptics on this subject but I am certainly not one of them, having been forewarned of the 1987 hurricane 2 weeks previous, and because of an episode when my Mum went bonkers looking for me when I was 12 years old (I decided to go for 6 mile walk at 1AM). She had had a dream of a boy playing on a local beach who was then suddenly engulfed by water followed by the vision of a small coffin bobbing peacefully on the waves. Although I was fine…obviously, only a week later a young boy drowned at was known locally as The Point, a notorious beach with sudden tidal surges, a freak tide caught him and his brother unaware playing on the sand, his brother survived. These are just a couple of the unexplainable instances I have been witness to. I am as down to earth and pragmatic as is possible and there is a complexity in nature that far exceeds the comprehension of human understanding. It is just that most people have their eyes shut and their mindset determined by modern ethics rather than what comes most naturally. Our true potential has been hidden by a veil of lies by religious institutions for centuries, hence why witches were burnt at the stake and radical thinkers declared insane. Even Galileo was accused of heresy and put under house arrest for life, the Vatican didn’t officially recognise his work until 1993! But that’s another area I wont get into…Sorry, got a bit carried away there.

As it has so far emerged, my Daughter is fine but it is spooky how the dream exactly fits the circumstances. Bizarre!

Wot No Photos

I’m meant to be uploading pictures from the concert on Wednesday night, but my camera battery was flat! So I asked others to take some for me, all I have to do is get round to downloading them. Instead I found this lovely picture of Alice and Roz on New Years Eve 2005…

Legally Untied.

Well that was an odd weekend, oh, hang on its Wednesday tomorrow… I now legally have no financial responsibility for the house on the Isle of Wight, signed the Statutory Declaration this morning and I am free of a potential £177,000 debt, Yay! Had a good chat with the company director about the work I’m doing for Hong Kong today and found out even more stuff that I didn’t know. Seems my head of department isn’t communicating, I feel a little responsible as I’m supposed to be relieving the burden for him but I’m not told what I need to, to get the job done, so it looks like I have to take the bull by the horns and make myself know. Popped into see Kayleigh as she has been fighting and her Mum, seems I’m not the best arbitrator and I certainly can’t take sides when I have no idea why it’s got so far. Off to Brighton Dome tomorrow to see Gary Numan, I’ll try and take some photos and put them here to look at. Anyway, I’m knackered so I’m sodding off…bfn.

My Kayleigh’s Going To College!!!

I went to the Sussex Downs College in Eastbourne where my Daughter Kayleigh, had an interview and got her place today starting September, Kayleigh bluetoothed this image to my phone so I guess she wont mind me uploading it here… Her friend Franki got a place too. I suppose it’s some kind of milestone for the parent too to have their firstborn leave school and start college. She’s very excited and so am I, the college is a really good one now they have had some kind of merger with Lewes and built all the different departments that were splattered all over the town onto one Campus, one of the few positive developments in this town (Check December 15th 2007). I went to the same college then known as E.C.A.T. (Eastbourne College of Arts and Technology) and it was naff, most of the techy parts were situated in portakabins on a crappy site up St. Anne’s Road, only Hairdressing and Catering were at the new site. Gradually they built a body repair workshop and introduced vehicle technology and moved all engineering classes to the site followed by the purchase of the old Computing Devices’ high tech building which became E.C.A.T. House. Many other new buildings have appeared including a huge sports complex since.

Child Safety.

How old does a child have to be to walk home 4 minutes down the road on her own at 9pm?

Factors:

Traffic Light1. Child’s age, awareness, appearance.
2. Any apprehension on the child’s part.
3. Area. Whether a rough estate, built up area, open country etc.
4. Street lighting, traffic and facilities to cross busy roads.
(Footbridges, Pelican Crossings).
5. Potential areas of opportunity for an attack on route.
6. Statistics of attacks or attempted abductions on young people in the local area.

Attacks:

Chav GroupThis is a grey area, a lot of muggings these days are attributed to the victim carrying a device such as an iPod or mobile phone, white headphones are a dead give away to a would-be mugger. Here’s the irony, these things are fashion accessories and are used to display symbols of status by the younger generation much as the reason why some adults (term used loosely) buy Beemers and ridiculously large 4X4’s, so… they are meant to be on display! I’m sure most young teens are well aware of the potential for being mugged in their local area, probably more so than the parents themselves in some cases. There’s a fine line between fashion and reason, it doesn’t take a person with a degree is sociology to understand that walking through a group of drunk teenagers outside the local One-Stop on a Friday evening, wearing a well displayed iPod while texting on an expensive mobile phone is not a particularly wise thing to do, and I’m sure most young people would avoid such a situation whether carrying expensive technology or not. The child’s ability of dealing with such a confrontation is a dodgy one, having possibly never witnessed such a situation before it is difficult to speculate on this. It is more likely the child will co-operate and then leg it rather than freeze in fear or start a fight, the latter ill-considered reaction would be somewhat irrational as the attacker could potentially be forearmed.

Abduction:

Get Off Me TwatAround 56% of child abductions are committed by a person the child is familiar with, nearly half of them are one of the parents, if you are a parent of the child an abduction is only deemed such if the child is taken out of the country. In the case of anyone else it is simply the detention of a child without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. With most stranger attempted child abductions the most common scenario is a male offender attempting to entice a child into a car or physically attempting to drag a child from a public place, older children should be well aware not to get into a car with a stranger and if they were dragged from a public place it’s highly probable there will be witnesses as public places are generally over-looked and offer better lighting, this could dramatically decrease the likelihood of such an attempt. Where might a child be more vulnerable? On a town housing estate notorious for gangs of teens it will be more likely the child be mugged or be involved in an unprovoked attack, in a small country village this would be unlikely, though it would be easier for an abductor to operate in such an area. So, it would appear to be safest in a moderately busy area not generally known its high crime rate. Statistically the average age of abductees is 10 and girls are more prone to abduction than boys.

Why am I asking?

Well I was subjected to a moral confrontation only last week that got blown out of proportion, I let my daughter pop home to collect her things to stay the night, it was well lit, it is a nice area, my daughter is responsible for her years and did not show any signs of trepidation. My daughter returned half hour later with my other daughter who’s 2 years older, this was their mother’s idea. So in retrospect, they could’ve both been kidnapped! I won’t mention the word neurotic…Damn!!!

So there is no definitive answer to the question, but having carefully considered all the above before (on the fly), I would put it at about 13 and a half!
