Can’t think of a title.

Well a wonderfully good morning to you all…even if it isn’t! Not really quite sure at the moment, that is, what to write, just felt the urge! Well there you go then, maybe I’ll pop back later with something of interest, but as it seems to be going , probably unlikely. Oh, by the way Chain is about to take over the world in an inflatable sausage, just for something to think about.

PC’s, BBQ’s and Disarray

My PC has buggered up! After trying to sort a problem for a guy up the road and the fact Chain has had nothing but problems with his PC, I thought this might be a warning to me to back up mine…Too late, Saturday night (5th) mine followed suit with a strange message on log in telling me that it couldn’t start up using my original profile settings and started up with a temporary profile instead, all my original settings gone! Well gonna take the PC round to Chain tomorrow (Wed) and he’ll probably stand behind me laughing at me attempting to follow his instructions on how to get my settings back. There is a file in my docs and settings folder called ntuser.dat that is corrupt, don’t know whether that is the root of the problem but tried replacing it anyhow and when I rebooted, the error message had gone, and as I was rubbing my palms with glee, windows created yet another profile “craig.craig-AMD64”, the final part being the computer name… Hmmm? So given up, managed to enter all my email setttings to retrieve any emails, though these I’m sure will dissapear next time I reboot.

Sod all else to moan about, my Saturday night annual bbq was a bit of a disaster, very few turned up, though I left it late with the invites as was feeling shite all week, one of my nephews’ decided to boff all over the hall/toilet floor…nice! And not much food was eaten. My two Daughters’ whined all night about how irritating they found each other, and of course the PC I’d set up for the music was happily re-setting all night. Next year I think I’ll buy a PS2 with Guitar Hero/Singstar as I reckon it would go down like a bomb!

For me, still very little in the way of work, applying for a position in Hastings that looks promising, still haven’t had word from the Lewes based company about the position of Production Engineer, a job I would find quite challenging and am quite anticipated about.

Right that’s my Whinging over with for a few days or so! Hopefully my next entry will be a more positive one. Till then.

Pinch Punch…

Well haven’t made an entry for a while so thought a good idea for an update. To add a bit to this site, which lets face it is pretty bland, I’ve added a coupla bits including downloads of some of the old Tat I’ve got junking up my hard-drive. Erm…Not much happened really, so i’ll leave it until I have some interesting stuff to write.

For some reason this poxy site doesn’t work in Internet Explorer which cheeses me right off as it’s generally the most widely use browser. So scroll down for the links until I sort it out.

Well I finally managed to edit the code so this site works in Internet Explorer, at least I think it does, I’m assuming that IE works differently with box models than Firefox which is kinda crap really but never mind. If there’s anything dodgey about the layout in IE please let me know either in the comments section or click here and use the email link.

Squirty Cream

Friday? Well good day all in all, was meant to cycle over the downs to Jevington for a beer or two but spent a considerable amount of time making up a front brake for my bike. After welding certain parts together we decided in the end just to use an angled bit of steel with a couple of hole drilled in it. Does the business now, thanks to Cam and Adam… So with little time left we cycled down to the British Queen for a pint or two, I tried this cider called Old Rosie at 7.3% abv and got quite merry to say the least. Evening was a good laugh, I went out with a coachload of Firemen on a Stag doo to Brighton, the groom was dressed on a pink vest top and a nappy with a huge baby bottle for his beer, laced occasionaly with the odd Viagra. Started off at the station, lots of beer on offer, after that cider in the afternoon I decided to pace myself and onto a coach off to Brighton. There were two strippers for the man, seemed the Viagra had no effect, either that or he was getting into the Brighton mood and turned Gay.I reckon the strippers were more embarrased than the groom who was absolutely loving it! Coupla beers and lots of squirty cream later we moved on, where to I don’t know, frequented severeral establishments of refreshment before settling down at a club I believe was called Creations, which was quite good, I was on water by now as I was being responsible and didn’t want to pass out and get gang raped by the male population. Not fair actually, I met some real nice guys on the night and definately not poofters. I’m not at all homophobic as long as they don’t try and shag me! Fell asleep for most of the journey home threw up and off to bed birds singing and warmish sunshine.

Hmmm…I feel a sense of insomnia overcoming me, so I’m back with an update, actually bugger all has happened since the last entry except I’ve drunk a can of Guinness, woohooo! Wierd I actually fancy a fag but I haven’t got any…never mind, I’m not really a smoker anyway, people who know me will know that I may spark up with a beer in my hand but thats it, strangley I do not crave unless I drink so giving up would be a doddle and may even cap some of my bingeing habits. But there’s another story, need to set a date to begin the PKU diet, it is tough…very tough so I need to be absolutely sure its what I need to be able to accomplish it long term. Thinking of the protein foods I enjoy that I would have to give up include Fish, Angel’s Makerel in particular 😉 Polish sausage, yum, Kabanos, Zwyeska (I’m sure there is an “i” in there somewhere?) I do not eat alot of meat, so all your Sunday roast faves wouldn’t be an isssue. Cheese not bothered, I like some Danish Blue or Mycella, another blue cheese I believe is French, but again not what I would class as something I would miss being on diet. Hmmm… some green leafy stuff I need to have to weigh, I could make a vegetable casserole using free (of protein) veg and scoff it till it pours out my nostrils…but some vegetables contain a significant amount of protein that has to be considered and therefore it has to weighed. Potatoes, Spring Greens, Runner Beans, Peas, Spinach, Sweetcorn, Mange Tout, Sugar Snaps all contain protein that has to be taken into consideration. Root veges tend to be low protein, exception being potatoes. Of course there is fruit, nearly all fruit is very low protein and hence is free on the diet, bananas (have said this far too often) need to be weighed. I think most fruits are free in moderation, not to say that they are protein free but a normal serving is considered not worth adding to the intake. Having said all this I’ve had a few questions for the dietician in London about so called freee foods that infact are quite high in protein, for instance, a tin of tomatoes contain approximately 5 grammes of protein, which is one third (33%) of the daily allowance for most on diet PKU patients, but it is published as a free food. Why is this? I asked the very same question to the people right at the top in PKU England and had no answer. Orange juice is another one that is free but has significantly high level protein content. Why am I writing all this shit? Maybe this can be the subject for Lemsworld.com, PKU why not and have a forum for sufferers of the disease, yes that seems a good idea. Lets face it I know quite a bit about the subject having been subjected to it all my life… Thats it, now I’ve put that idea in my head I will not be sleeping at all tonight, but maybe I could actually make a difference you never know. What a very long and boring entry, sorry about that, but I’ve got sod all else to do.

Phenylketonuria Fuelled Mayhem

This is it! I’m quite surprised that I am still reasonably happy in consideration. I may even kick off my diet for phenylketonuria (there’s one for the search engines) soon, I have been in touch with the dieticians at the University College Hospital in London and need to book an appointment with the Consultant who I beleive is still Dr. Lee, only then will I revert to a Rabbit like diet. In fact a Rabbit’s diet is probably more varied but they dont get any of it from the NHS.

Yesterday I caught the sun a bit, cleared a load of stuff from Chains garden and took it down the tip, then entertained myself sitting on the patio in the sun watching Chain’s amazing carpentry interpretation. In other words a door that didn’t fit. Thought I’d give a hand for 5 minutes before nodding off in the sunshine again. Angel made us a lovely bit of fresh Makerel and salad, thanks Hun x Then I poppped to my local for a game of pool, won a few lost a few. I met Rhys, who is Luke’s Brother, Luke is the guy who had the car accident, I spoke to him about it and his general answer was, “We are all coming to terms with it,” which upset me a bit because that means that Luke is either not going to make it or, he is going to be severley affected by it. I have also had word from Bluewatch who were there on the scene to cut him out and the injuries sounded horrific, I really feel for the guy and his family, they are the salt of the earth and surely didn’t deserve this…

Anyway on a lighter note, I’m off for a bike ride over downs today with a coupla mates and lunch at the Eight Bells in Jevington, when I say bike ride I mean off road not cycling in tartan socks along a cobbled street waving to passers by. I love it but I don’t have a front brake so will have to take it easy. Nothing else of interest really, except I’ve had about 5 mugs of coffee in the last hour and beginning to get a bit hyper…..

Battery Buggery

Hello, bought a sealed lead-acid battery off of ebay for a fiver recently and it will not charge. I’ve done some research and it looks like its down to sulphation, lead sulphate forming on the plates because of being left in an uncharged state for a long period. I measured the charge current at 60 microamps initially and have had it wired up to my power supply for 3 days now and the charge current has hit a wapping 4.7 milliamps, hmmm I have the design for a small electronic circuit to build that is meant to desulphate batteries, it’s quite a simple idea that pulses the charge current at 50 milli second intervals up to 6Amps, which is more than enough for a 7Ah battery, from forums I’ve read the success rate is very high, though patience is required as it could take weeks to significantly improve the performance to a point where the battery would be usable. All a bit long winded, but hey I gotta do something otherwise my brain will dry up and come out my ears in powder form. Or did that happen already?

Anyway I may get onto that and will bore you all to tears with it in the future no doubt, BUGGER! Just been offered a job in Brighton, Embedded Systems Test Engineer at £35 an hour but I have no Visual Basic experience, man that sucks! But the girl on the phone sounded very nice and I now have her email address 😉 Blimey, I’m sounding desperate now, no surprise really…Well Chain’s off to the Quacks good luck matey, the charge current on that battery has risen to 5.2 milliamps in the time its taken me to type this, about 1 hour as phone ringing and chatting to Angel on MSN too. Maybe load up that program to design the inductors required for this desulphation circuit, or maybe just wait till I can just buy them, £1.20 each not exactly gonna force me to remortgage is it? Popped in to see Cam today who’s off work with a dodgey arm, had a good old natter, we’re like a couple of old women putting the world to rights when we get together but it’s cool.
