Thank Mars Bar it’s Friday

I thought I was going to be working till Christmas Eve today, but I pulled off a few tricks to lighten the workload without upsetting any customers and without looking like a complete skiver to the guys in the office, pretty neat. Was home by 6.15 Yay! Popped round my mate mels to fit a pcb to her boiler as she’s been without hot water for a week, that all went swimmingly well then had a phonecall from my daughter Kayleigh. Somehow she talked me into her and a mate staying over while I buy them popcorn and rent DVD’s, I was all set up to go to the gym, but it’s nice to have the girl’s stay over, gives me a sense of purpose.

Just Call Me Eric.

Yup had a disaterous day at work, well, wasn’t that bad just problematic, each job turned into a major one which meant I actually had to think on my feet for a change. Round Chain’s in evening and Angel made me a delicious roast after which I had a bash on Guitar Hero and got kinda into it. Sorta thinking of buyng a PS2 now lol…Tried the smoke on the water on expert and reckon with some practice (on my own) could pull some of it off. Put a bid on a radio on ebay and then read the text to find it was faulty! Doh! So I want to be outbid on that one otherwise its 30 quid up the swanney, if i cant get it going that is. Home then bed by the looks of it.

Averagely Naff Day…

Well the strange thing is I have been contemplating on the question of why I say “Wahey” alot and come to the conclusion that I’m just a sad git. Croydon again today and guess where tomorrow? Although today was going really well and I was feeling kinda well chilled out cruisin’ around Banstead and the M25 corridor, I had a boiler job balls it all up! It took me longer to get the parts I needed ordered, than it did to take the boiler apart, service it, diagnose the fault, temporarily repair it and put it back together again, so if anyone with any clout reads this from Homeserve…”SORT IT OUT!” I’m being told to do something in a certain way by one person and differently by another? Feel like bashing their ‘eds together!

My Uncle came round to send an email, he was in a pretty good mood and not forcasting the colapse of civilisation or immanent death in the face of a quite large mushroom cloud as he usually does. Gave him a lift and popped to Chains for a cuppa, Angel invited me for dinner tomorrow which is cool (Cheers Luv 😉 ) not that I really am living on corned beef and crackers, that may have been exaggerated for amusement’s sake. But hey, whatever she knocks up will be thoroughly enjoyed.

Should start keeping eye out for 6meter radio from now as not long till payday…wahey! see….there I go again. Going to try out some designs tomorrow at Chain’s for an antenna. Will need a mobile jobby too, that’ll be a challenge.

Corned Beef and Cream Crackers

Yes another entry, nothing really to write about except life sucks etc. Took the kiddies out over weekend and accidentally spent my shopping money so gonna live on scraps until payday. Joined the gym and been going regularly for a week so far, My brother reckons he may join when he comes back from Turkey, that’ll be good to be honest as he’s a good motivator…although he isn’t black, and he doesn’t wear tight lycra with a bum bag. Haven’t seen Max up there yet, sure I will soon, to be honest I need a few weeks to get back into it as I find it hard lifting a a bag of frozen peas at the moment.

Been working ALOT in Croydon recently which is poo really as I really dont know the area too well and takes a while to navigate round, I can get very frustrated if I have difficulty finding an address, frightenend I might prang the van one day. Errr….well that’s not bad really for an entry so may have the blog spirit back and waffle endlessly about seemingly meaningless dribble on a daily basis for the amusement of nobody.

Wahey At Last!

I’m actually going to publish this, I have written other entries in various moods and kept them as drafts, now I don’t care and I’m just going to stick it out there.

In a Nutshell…

I’m Skint, Work Sucks, Life is a Drag and any spare time I have to do stuff in I fall asleep. Maybe I’ll be more creative tomorrow and actually make my sad existence seem more interesting…

High above the world we can dream.

Woke up this morning and felt the urge to get out in the open, so trekked off to the top of the downs and had a good old wander around and cleared my mind. Found a good position to build my house about 400feet above Willingdon, just need to get onto the council for planning permission and be prepared for an answer along the lines of “You’re ‘aving a larf! Now Sod Off You Time Wasting Twonk!” But hey we can all dream… I had noticed that throughout my walkabout on the downs a single Magpie was always in front of me, strange I thought. I usually have a lone Magpie in my face before a particularly distressing event, so when I got back to the car park I notice an official looking dude in a hi-vis jacket wandering around, and yes I had a parking ticket! So that poxy Magpie was telling me, har har, you’re now £60 worse off! I should of stamped on its head…

Chain invited me for a cuppa tea which was very well received, had a play with my pocket PC before heading home…

Recently I bought a 70cm hand-held radio and, to put it bluntly, it’s a bit crap, thought I’d put my technical abilities into use to improve the radio’s performance and set about armed with sodering irons, DVM’s, Scopes and tea. A little dissapointed, managed to get rid of an annoying tone that played everytime you turned it on, had to drill a hole in the front of the case for the microphone element. Not sure why the manufacturers didnt do it? Maybe they thought it’s such a crappy radio that whoever buys one will probably never use it so why bother. The next thing was to improve the audio quality, it sounded rather muffled, half due to the lack of passage for sound through the case to the mic, the other half I believe to be bad pre-amp design. Modestly adjusting the filtering for the mic pre-amp made a slight difference, the next stage was to find out where the background noise was being generated. This apparently, after reading forums and reviews, is characteristic of this radio. Got as far as proving it wasnt the mic pre-amp stage causing the noise, more likely the problem lies within the design of the RF stages and will be impossible to eliminate. So all in all, The JingTong UHF FM Tranceiver is quite naff, but it looks nice. Having reassembled it it seems a new noise has popped up, and I couldnt be bothered to rip it apart again. Another day, thanks to Chain btw for patiently monitoring 70cms while I tried several mods on the radio.
